Thanksgiving & Baby Burckhard Cousins

It's been quite a while since my last post so I figured I better get some new pictures up here of Brooke. We've had an eventful few weeks with Thanksgiving and then now getting ready for Christmas. We were in Minot for Thanksgiving for four days. It was great to be home. And, there was a double shower for me and my cousin's wife, Marissa, who just had a little boy (Paul, born two days before Brooke). Lots of aunts and cousins came; it was a lot of fun. Brooke must have been a little overwhelmed by all of the people because she was pretty fussy the whole time. It was still great to see everyone. And, to make things even more fun, all of the babies born into the Burckhard family were there, too. I'm going to keep this short and sweet because there are lots of pictures I want to include. I promise to do a better job of updating this blog more often!

Cody loves his baths, too!
Grandma, can I have some turkey please?
Just Brooke, sittin' pretty.

More from Brooke's birthday

She's a week and a half old now. Time flies when you're having fun! It's so rewarding to have a child. I can't imagine my life without her.
Even though these are from the day she was born, I just had to add them. I got them yesterday from my sister-in-law, Katie (thanks hun!). I love the lighting in these photos. I hope you enjoy them, too.

Brooke Marie Hecht 11.4.2008

Our little angel decided to make her grand appearance at 8:37 a.m. on November 4, 2008 (just in time to vote ;-) ). She tipped the scales at 9 pounds 7 ounces and 22 inches. With that trophy weight we decided we'll keep her :-).

Here are a few photos. Cody is taking to her very well. He's up all night whenever we are up just making sure she's okay when she's crying.

She's such a miracle. We are so blessed to have her in our lives!

4 days overdue & no baby yet...

Here we are again...Now, we are four days overdue and no sign of baby yet. Things are changing with my body, but nothing to get us headed to the hospital.

We had an appointment this morning and the doctor scheduled us to be induced on Thursday, November 6. So, unless we magically go into labor before we are planning to have the baby on Thursday. The good news is that we can finally see some light at the end of the tunnel. And, it's been a loooooong tunnel.

Now all I can think about is Thursday and wondering what she looks like and just how big she's going to be. Any guesses? I'm thinking well over eight pounds and about 21 inches. I guess we'll see soon enough! ;-)

Due Date

Well, in my last post I said I was going to wait until she was here to post another...well, today's her due date. Doesn't she know she's supposed to come today??? Okay, okay. I'll give her another 15 and half hours, but then she's officially late. I guess she just wants to make a grand entrance. ;-)

39 and a half weeks...

Here we are. It's been 39 and a half weeks and we are still patiently waiting. I pregnancies are supposed to be 40 weeks long, but I'm feeling like a kid at Christmas.

I had a few more contractions last week, but nothing that was worth calling home about. Justin strongly believes that she is going to be a Halloween baby. I'm not so sure. I have a feeling she's going to come sometime in the first week of November. The good news is that my doctor said she won't let me go any later than 10 days past my due date. So, that's November 9. And, the even better part about that is that is a Sunday. So, I don't think my doc wants to induce on a weekend. So, that means I think she'll be here no later than November 7 (or at least we'll be in the hospital no later than November 7). Yippee! (Hey, I've gotta see the light at the end of this tunnel some how...)

Cody & I tried going for a walk today after not going for two months. I think he's forgotten how since he pulls all the time. When he's off the leash to play fetch with Justin in the field he's great. But, when he's on the leash and hasn't been walked in a while, it's quite a chore. So, we turned around and went home to finish laundry.

Just another lazy weekend around the Hecht household. Hopefully next time I post we'll have a baby to write about!

Go Twins!

Since I'm trying to do a little catch up, I can't forget about our weekend to Minneapolis to see the Minnesota Twins for dad's birthday. Even though Justin & Terry put on their rally caps, the Twins just couldn't pull through. But, it was still a really fun weekend!

Final Countdown & more

We are in the final couple weeks of this pregnancy! I'm so excited (and so huge) I think I could probably burst.

This is me at about 35 weeks pregnant. (Now I'm 38 and only getting bigger!)

We have the baby's room all ready, now we are just waiting for baby. I love our new crib we have. Our last one got recalled so Justin picked out something different. My only need was a trundle drawer. It is so much more beautiful than what we had before. I guess everything happens for a reason.
We have a few names picked out too, but we are waiting to tell anyone the names until we actually name her. Plus, Justin and I are going back and forth on one specific name. We both like it, but now we are trying to decide on the middle name. I guess everyone else will just have to wait to hear what it is.

A couple months ago we celebrated our nephew's christening. And, we were asked to be the godparents. Little Austin is such a darling! Katie & Ryan are very lucky parents. We can't love him up enough every time we see him. I'm so happy that our little girl will have a cousin her age to grow up with.

Last month Katie threw a baby shower for me. It was a packed house. So many of Justin's aunts came, as well has his grandmas from both sides. And, two of my aunts (mom's sisters) came to surprise us. I'm so happy they could make it. Even though I don't think I want to have as many kids as my grandmas did, we sure are blessed to have such large families.
This flower "cake" was all made up cupcakes. Katie is so creative!

Lindsay came all the way up from Sioux Falls to surprise me over my baby shower weekend.

And, my darling Angie came from Minneapolis.
