First UND Hockey Game

Brooke attended her first UND hockey game last night. UND beat Michigan Tech 4 - 2 (I think). She did so well, and was even on the jumbo-tron. We got a few calls from people watching the game from home and they said they saw her on TV. Even though it was way past her bedtime, she stayed awake all the way through to the last 8 minutes of the game. I have a feeling we have a budding Sioux hockey fan on our hands (sorry Justin, I just don't think she's going to be a gophers fan).

We also had our first family pictures yesterday. As soon as we get them back I'll post some. The photographer is Shawna Widdel, she owns Shawna Noel Photography. It was a great session, she came to our house. Brooke hammed it up lots for the camera.

Rice Cereal

We'll just let the video speak for itself. At his pace of eating, Brooke is going to eat us out of house and home.

4 months

I probably shouldn't have titled this post "4 months" because she's not quite there (Wednesday, March 4 to be exact). But, we have her 4 month check up and shots today. I had to take her to the doctor on Friday because she's had a cold for 2 weeks and now has a terrible cough. When they weighed her she was a whopping 17 pounds 11 ounces. She's beautiful and healthy and that's all that matters to me.

She started eating rice cereal on Saturday night. She's messy, but actually pretty good at it. Last Sunday (February 22) she grabbed a toy for the first time and then she also grabbed the bottle and put it in her mouth. I can't believe it. Brooke is also sleeping through the night and I have to wake her up in the morning to get her going to day care. I can't figure out how people get their kids to bed by 7:30 or 8 p.m. Brooke is up until 9 or so.

Cody is doing good, too. He's so gentle around Brooke. Take this morning for example. I was getting Brooke in her bunny suit (basically a snowsuit) to go to daycare and he laid down right next to her and gave her a little smooch. Then, of course, she looked at him and grabbed his lip. But, he doesn't do anything. What a good boy. Justin and I keep warning him that pretty soon he's not going to like all of the attention from Brooke.

I'll have to make another post after Brooke's appointment today. Any bets on how long she is??? She's already taller than her cousin Austin (8 months).

Brooke Marie 3 months old

Brookers is three months old now. Can barely believe it! She's starting to grab at toys and basically rips the bottle out of my hands so she can get it to her mouth faster. Last night we started her on rice cereal. I guess people usually wait until babies are 4 months old, but she always seems hungry so I thought this would help. Umm, no. Last night she woke up hungrier than ever. I think she's got a hollow leg like her father. Her are a few recent pictures of her. And, one video. It might just look like she's batting at toys, but this is how she likes to play.

James Otto & More

Here are several pictures from the James Otto concert at the Alerus Center. The concert was great, but we couldn't figure out why he had a fan constantly blowing his hair. He looked like he was in a shampoo commercial.

Back to work

Brooke's first day at daycare was January 13. What a day that was! Of course, I cried when I dropped her off. I really wish I could have stayed home with her forever. But, two days later I sit her feeling a little better about it. I know this is good for her (and good for me, too). Have you heard Darius Rucker's song "It Won't Be Like This For Long" ? It talks about a little girl growing up and to love her up every second of the day. It brings a tear to my eye every time I hear it, but I still love it.

...2009

It's 2009! Boy, time flies when you are having fun. I have a week left home with Brookers. I'm not really looking forward to going back to work, but someone has to make the big bucks right? ;-) We celebrated Christmas with the Burckhards and the Hechts and had her baptism, too. Busy holiday weekend that's for sure. Then, Justin, Brooke & I took it easy on New Year's Eve. Just the three of us rang in the new year together.
